Very close to Puerto Vallarta, where the sea and landscapes of Mother Nature are the main protagonists, there is a place that surprises, enchants, and captivates even the most experienced travelers. It is Marietas Islands, a place that until some time ago was unknown and now stands as one of the most attractive spots in this region of Mexico.

This natural wonder is located in the state of Nayarit, near Punta Mita, another of the most exclusive beach destinations on the Pacific Ocean coast. Since 2005, Marietas Islands has been a National Park due to its natural features, which include being home to more than 90 aquatic species and migratory birds, among others. Additionally, it is considered a Biosphere Reserve protected by UNESCO.

The Marietas Islands are the ideal place to give wings to your adventurous spirit in a unique natural setting that will leave you breathless. What can you expect when visiting this privileged spot? On the surface, it consists of two islands and two islets whose features and water depths provide the perfect setting for water sports such as snorkeling, diving, kayaking, paddleboarding — one of the trending water sports in recent times. Practice it here and enjoy an unforgettable experience!

On the other hand, it is worth highlighting the presence of naturally formed reefs. These make it a refuge for some marine species that you can discover if you take the dive into the depths of the waters of the Bay of Banderas.

If you want to be amazed by observing more marine species, you should visit between December and April, as this is the season when whales appear to give thousands of tourists a unique spectacle. One of the cetacean species that inhabits this area is the Humpback Whale, alongside others such as dolphins, octopuses, and manta rays.

  • Paradise at Hidden Beach

In the archipelago that forms the Marietas Islands, there is a beach whose name is well-deserved: Hidden Beach, a heavenly spot, where you can admire one of the most breathtaking landscapes imaginable.

Surrounded by nature and in a tropical setting, you can access this private beach (incidentally) through reservations at different nearby hotels. You only need to swim through a tunnel in these beautiful waters to arrive at a point where the landscape will amaze you. On the way, as you peacefully swim through, you can enjoy the views, spotting different species of multicolored fish. Nature fills you with joy along the way!

To get here, it is most advisable to book a tour early in the morning from Puerto Vallarta or Nuevo Vallarta so you can enjoy a full day in a natural paradise.

Visit the Marietas Islands and have an adventure experience in Nayarit. Don’t miss it!
