Puerto Vallarta is one of those places that every traveler should visit at least once in their life. Its natural landscape, defined by the silhouettes of the Sierra Madre Occidental and the beaches along the Mexican Pacific coast as a backdrop, is one of its main attractions. This city, located in the state of Jalisco, has experienced significant growth in tourism in recent years; evidence of this is the numerous hotels, of excellent quality and service, that we now find in different parts of the city, as well as the restaurants and various entertainment venues that position the area as cosmopolitan and international in character.
A few days in the dynamic and intense city of Puerto Vallarta, where afternoon strolls and festive nights complement perfectly with a visit to some of the more secluded beaches nearby, will be unforgettable. A great example of this plan is Yelapa, located just 40 minutes south of the city.
Do you know how to get to paradise? Take a water taxi from Vallarta and enjoy the rustic charm of Yelapa. You will find golden sand beaches where the emerald green waters invite you to dive in and enjoy hours of bathing while the sun accompanies long afternoons.
A day in Yelapa can start and end at the beach, as here you will find everything you need to feel comfortable and enjoy various activities. If you like water sports, take advantage of the location to practice or learn kayaking, paragliding, diving, and snorkeling, among others.
Now, if you want to eat and try some typical delicacies from the area, you have to ask for the famous pays, one of Yelapa’s most traditional dishes made with natural ingredients; there are different flavors, such as nuts, coconut, cheese, lime, chocolate, and banana. Be sure to try them! For a drink, it is recommended to take a sip of raicilla, a liquor made from agave.
If you want to leave the beach for a few hours and walk around the town, you will love the rustic atmosphere of the place, which has only 1,500 inhabitants and where cars do not circulate, nor is there electricity. The people are very friendly and welcoming, so you will feel very comfortable wandering the streets of Yelapa and meeting friends along the way.
A stroll through the town will bring you to Javier’s Rosewood Artisans, where you can buy some handicrafts or products made from locally grown rosewood, such as vases, plates, salad bowls, and more.
Yelapa is, without a doubt, a paradisiacal place, different from the rest, where you can connect with the native nature. Escape from Puerto Vallarta and enjoy the rustic charm of this small town and its beautiful beaches.
