Valladolid, una ciudad rodeada de cenotes en Yucatán

They say that their lands were the main witnesses of the War of Castes and, here, it lit the first spark of Independence. Valladolid is known as the ?Capital of the East Maya? or ?The Pearl of the Orient?. Both denominations are ideal, the first, denoted the proximity of this town with the mayan archaeological sites such as Cobá, Chichen Itza and Ek Balam; the second, refers to the great beauty that flaunts its colonial streets and picturesque, its ancient traditions that are still alive and the marvellous constructions of the viceroyalty style that will remain intact despite the passage of centuries.

Valladolid is a Magical Village exquisite, which combines the nostalgia of a colonial past not so distant (still, sometimes, it hurts), the beauty of the architecture of the time, the streets carved into paving stones, and a mystery without equal.

As if all this were little , Valladolid is a city surrounded by cenotes and becomes one of the most attractive in the State of Yucatan, one of those that you can not miss during your stay in Mexico.

Just A few blocks from the center of the city you’ll find the first cenote: Zací. The same is one of the largest and most impressive of the entire Yucatan Peninsula. Open to the sky, this cenote has clear blue waters, so intense, that will leave you shocked. What are its dimensions? Because anything less than 45 metres in diameter, 80 meters deep and about 40 feet from the mouth the mirror of water. Unlike many of these formations, it did not work out as a ceremonial center in pre-hispanic times, its function was to supply the village.

If you do about two kilometres you will find Dzitnup, a cenote is closed known as the Blue Cave that will leave you totally stunned with its extreme beauty and her undeniable exoticism. The entrance to this cenote will be a bit more complicated, you will need to encourage you to spend a narrow hole but believe me it will be worth that journey. When you enter in to the underground cavern, you’ll find a mirror of turquoise and crystal clear on which are reflected the stalactites and stalagmites of the ceiling of the cave. It seems like a perfect postcard!!!

The Cenote Saluma is located just in front of Dzitnup or Xkekén, and is also fully closed. Since their roofs are cut the roots of the trees that are found on the surface, which apparently intended to flee the heat and drink pure water. The hole in the roof of this cenote illuminates the crystal clear water which heavenly blessing.

These are just some of the hidden wonders of the Magical Town of Valladolid. Imagine, just think of all of the mirrors of pure water, and turquoise hidden in the lands of the State of Yucatan, it is truly fascinating!

How much diversity is there in Mexico, how exquisite are their lands, and how many mysteries waiting to be uncovered by you!
