One of the main sites to visit in Izamal is the Temple of the Immaculate Conception and former Convent of San Antonio de Padua, the home of the congregation of franciscans and is considered one of the catholic monasteries of greater antiquity in the whole of America, with a surface area of 8 thousand square meters. This set is located on a part of what was formerly the hill ?Pap-hol-chac?, destroyed by the Spanish conquerors to build this site.
