The story suggests that Xtabay, also known as Xkeban, was a woman who gave her body to the man crosses and therefore was rejected by the people. However he also possessed a generous soul, able to help everyone who needed it, to sell their belongings to feed the dying, or helping the helpless. It happened that, after several days, they began to notice his absence and even if the people inferred that it would be in neighboring cities offering his body, a sweet and penetrating aroma, led the neighbours to his house, where they found dead, but protected by the animals that they sought to scare off the flies.

Here is where it appears a new figure, called Utz Colel. This was a decent person and good family, pure and chaste, but with a soul selfish, unable to do anything for your neighbour. When Utz Colel felt the aroma of the deceased and saw that the people gave him their attention he began to proclaim that this could not be true, that a soul so impure could not wake that smell, that there must be something rare and added that surely the day of his death, she, clean, and copy, put a scent much more delicious.

The fact is that some of the neighbors listened to Utz because it was a beloved woman, while others apiadaron of Xtabay and buried, although they could not break with that heady aroma, and much less with the so-called flower of Xtabentún that began to grow in his tomb, there is also its other meaning: ?vine that grows on the stone ?.

Then came the day of the death of Utz Colel and the neighbors present at the funeral, although grief-stricken, expecting to feel a soft and sweet aroma but an unexpected situation surprised them. The smell was unpleasant, typical of the rot and no flower grew from the grave but a cactus.

The story ends with a Utz Colel resentful and angry, I asked the gods to return to earth to live as Xtabay. That is, if: expected to find men to seduce people and steal their heart. How do you realize if you have fallen in your hands? Since you’ll be hugged a cactus.

Now, how do you prepare the drink? The main ingredient is the flower that bears his name, in a state of fermentation. But in addition it is necessary to include honey, sugar, and purified water, as well as two types of spirits: the sugar cane and anise. The first thing is to mix the distilled sugar cane with water to achieve a percentage of alcohol moderate. Then add sugar, then the distillate of anise and finally the honey. It must be said, what will be the level of alcohol in general exceeds 25 degrees, so that it is a strong drink. Taking cold, accompanied by ice, or well, some people tend to put a little bit in the coffee.
