The summer has already arrived, and it’s time to think about vacations. It’s the perfect time to relax and enjoy, and there’s no better place to do so than the beach, where the sand, the sun, and the sea of an incredible turquoise blue come together perfectly to create unique landscapes and moments.

In Mexico, when we think of beaches, we can associate it with many places. But there is one that stands out particularly as one of the most paradisiacal beach destinations. We are talking about Riviera Maya, on the coast of the Caribbean Sea, which boasts more than 100 kilometers of beaches, each one more beautiful than the last. Every single one of them offers different features that make them perfect for various activities tourists prefer to enjoy.

Which are the beaches you must visit during your stay in Riviera Maya?

  • Playa del Carmen: a city that not only offers beautiful beaches but also a wide range of attractions and activities. Located in the heart of the Riviera Maya, it is a cosmopolitan destination that attracts visitors from all over the world. It’s no wonder, as the quality of its beaches is its main tourist treasure.
  • Tulum: a site that combines the beauty of a spectacular sea with the historical richness of significant archaeological remnants, which are among the most impressive and visited in the region. The white and fine sand of its beaches invites you to spend long hours enjoying this unique landscape.
  • Puerto Morelos: considered the gateway to the Riviera Maya, it is a fishing village whose beaches serve as the main attraction for tourists. The reefs here make it an ideal destination for underwater sports and discovering colorful fish and many other marine species.
  • Puerto Aventuras: this is another recommended beach in the Riviera Maya, where you will find three sections: the bay of Fátima, Chan YuYum, and ChacHal. Here, you can swim with dolphins and enjoy snorkeling or scuba diving. Don’t miss the bars near the beach to savor the most delicious seafood dishes.
  • Akumal: a sea surrounded by reefs makes this destination one of the best spots for scuba diving in the Riviera Maya. In the Mayan language, Akumal means “Place of Turtles,” a clear reference to the arrival of turtles to these shores to complete their reproductive cycle. It is located just over 30 kilometers from Playa del Carmen. In addition to marveling at the underwater world, which you can explore in the underground rivers and caves, you can also enjoy activities like windsurfing or kayaking.

These are just some of the places that make up the more than 100 kilometers of beaches found in the Riviera Maya. Visit them and indulge in these wonderful marine landscapes!
