Yucatan is bordered on the north by the Gulf of Mexico, on the east and southeast by the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, and in the southwest by the Mexican state of Campeche. The state is very popular among tourists for having everything when it comes to accommodation, archaeological sites, and attractions. Nightlife in Yucatan varies as much as the people that visit the peninsula. Although local people of Yucatan like to party, there are differences depending on the area you visit and even the climate.

In places like Merida, Valladolid, or Tizimin definitely the most popular places to party are the antros. In these places, locals and visitors dance to the rhythm of local music and drink typical beverages and cocktails well into the night. The party starts early and ends at about 3:00 a.m. when most antros start to close their doors.

For those who enjoy more quiet activities, there are options for them in Yucatan. You can always have a coffee or drink a cocktail in a bar. Entertainment is never short in these places. While you talk and drink, you will enjoy listening to ballads, or traditional musicians. Invariably, in all the municipality of Yucatan you will find a main square surrounded by little, picturesque bars and coffees where you can enjoy a drink while watching the beautiful typical dances of the area.

If you are interested into a more cultural plan for your night, then in cities like Merida you will find shows and presentations available in the local theatre. There is a wide array of options to choose from, and almost every day there are functions of different things.

A must see and do when it comes to nightlife in Yucatan is the “Light and Sound” show in Chichén Itzá. This show takes place is what up to today is considered one of the most important archaeological sites of Mexico. The Light and Sound show is truly impressive, and it transports viewers to the past where you they will be able to feel how Maya lived, their traditions, and knowledge. After seeing this show you will have no doubts about why Chichen Itza is considered one of the new wonders of the world.

Yucatan truly offers it all when it comes to tourist services and entertainment. No matter what your preferences, you are sure to find something to do during the nights of your stay that will guarantee a fun-packed time. Nightlife in Yucatan is lively as the local people, and the experience is really unique.
