While enjoying all that Cancun has to offer, take a moment to enjoy some of the history that makes the city a unique blend of old and new.

If you are looking to see pyramids in Cancun, head to El Meco for a more personal visit. Opened to the public in 2001, the site does not get as many visitors as some of the larger sites, making it the perfect place to explore and snap some great pictures.

The pyramids in Cancun are located only 6 kilometers north of the city, and allow visitors the chance to wander through the ruins of several temples, remains of columns and a well-conserved pyramid.

According to recent studies, El Meco used to be a small fishing town that disappeared in 600 A.D., and was left uninhabited until 1000 or 1100 when a new city was formed as a main bridge to Isla Mujeres.

So head over and wander through the remains – the close proximity to Cancun and the marvelous historic feats will take your breath away.
